EXT. POLICIES — ENVIRONMENT

Environmental policy.

How EXT. Locations helps productions find, recce and use locations with less travel and less impact. Adopted 15 October 2026; next review October 2027.

ENV/01

Our commitment

EXT. is a location library. The biggest environmental choice a production makes about a location is often made before anyone arrives: how far crew travel to see it, how it is powered, and how it is left. We help productions make those choices well, and we run our own business lightly.

ENV/02

Scope

This policy covers EXT.'s library and services, our own operations, and everyone acting for us, including our location manager, freelance scouts and photographers. We also share it with location owners and with the productions that book through us.

ENV/03

How we help productions

  • Recce with fewer journeys. Every listing carries a full photo set, and where available 3D scans (made with our scanning partner Kittiwake Digital) and Field Recce reports, so productions can shortlist and often tech-recce before anyone travels.
  • Sustainability data on listings. We are adding to every listing whether mains power is available, whether the location is on a renewable tariff, public transport links, EV charging, unit-base parking, and waste and recycling facilities.
  • Local first. We suggest locations close to the production's base and crew to cut daily travel.
  • Mains before generators. Where a location has a suitable mains supply, we flag it and help arrange tie-in.
  • Footprint data. We give productions the location details they need for their AdGreen or albert carbon calculators.

ENV/04

How we work with location owners

  • We give owners guidance on protecting grounds, wildlife and neighbours, on waste removal, and on making sure the location is left as found.
  • We flag protected landscapes and sites, such as the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, National Landscapes and SSSIs, and the permissions and care they need.
  • We encourage owners to move to renewable electricity and add EV charging, and we highlight locations that have.

ENV/05

How we run the business

  • Digital-first: an online library, digital agreements and invoices, and no printed brochures.
  • Scouting trips are planned to cover several locations per journey, using low-emission vehicles where possible.
  • We track our own business travel and footprint every year.

ENV/06

Targets

By October 2027

  • Sustainability information completed on every active listing.
  • Our location manager completes formal sustainability training (albert Carbon Literacy or equivalent).
  • Baseline business footprint measured for 2026/27.

Longer term

  • Reduce scouting travel per new listing through remote capture and route planning, with a measured target published here once the baseline is set.
